"Open Hearted, Open Minded, Come Join Us!"

  Music

Composed mainly of volunteers from the congregation, Trinity's choir sings a variety of sacred music from contemporary to classical format in order to enhance the Sunday morning worship experience.  We meet for rehearsals Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 from September through June.  Our members have varying musical backgrounds, but all of us have in common a love of music and a love of a good time.  Under the able direction of our new choir director Peggy Jenks, the members are eagerly anticipating a new season.  We welcome anyone with a love of singing and a desire for good fellowship to join our group.

Besides traditional hymns and select anthems sung by our choir, Trinity also enjoys a variety of special music provided by our talented members throughout the year.  We've enjoyed solos and duets played on guitar, flute, saxophone, harmonica and handbells.   Music at Trinity is always a treat.  You never know just what you'll hear, but you always know it will enhance your worship experience.

Peggy Jenks - Music Director

Peggy began conducting choirs in the 7th grade and never looked back. After graduating from The College of Wooster in Ohio , she and her husband were missionaries under the United Methodist Church and United Church of Christ teaching in schools for missionary children in India for 23 years. taught classroom music, choir, and band and conducted the Chapel Choir. From 1993-2006, Peggy taught music in the International School of Luxembourg ( Europe ) and founded Voices International, a community choir. For one year she taught music in Atlanta at the International Community School (Charter) founded for immigrant and refugee children (from war-torn nations such as Iran , Afghanistan , Somalia , Congo , and others) as well as Americans, mostly Title 1. Her sister, Gail Williams, kept insisting that she move to Winston Salem to be near her and their mother, Doris Braithwaite, so that's what she did in 2008. Peggy now teaches piano and voice at Jackson 's Music Store and in her home studio. She plays trombone in the Salem Trombone Choir, a women's brass quintet, the New Horizons Band, plays glockenspiel with the Salem Community Orchestra, and sings occassionally with the Voices of God's Childrens and other local groups. She loves being a part of the Winston-Salem music scene and becoming a part of the Trinity community!!
