So many of our members are involved in community service.”

Locally, Trinity Presbyterian Church has a long-standing relationship with Dellabrook Presbyterian Church, a historically African-American congregation, who we worship with annually and partner with through the Presbyterian Inter-Racial Dialogue (PIRD) which seeks to address racial issues that have impacted our city and churches.
Our building is used throughout the week as the home for Disability Advocates, Al-Anon, and Alcoholics Anonymous. We also provide space for a Transgender & NonBinary People Support Group and a Friends & Family of Transgender and NonBinary People Support Group, the Winston-Salem Newcomers Group, the Piedmont Playwright Group, Tai Chi, Zumba, English as Second Language (ESL) classes, and others.
During 2019, we are focused on building community both within and outside of ourselves. We believe all of humanity is interconnected. Through creating opportunities for being together, sharing meals, and telling our stories, we look to building up the church in love. Currently,
Trinity members volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW NC and at Food Bank member agencies, such as Crisis Control Ministry, Samaritan Ministries Soup Kitchen, and Sunnyside Ministry. Trinity also provides food for volunteer physicians, nurses, health care providers, and volunteers who work at the Community Care Center, the local free medical clinic. There are countless opportunities to reach out to help with the problem of food insecurity. For example, many congregations participate in the backpack program, filling bags of food for children on the free/reduced lunch program to eat on the weekends. Trinity has made a start in the growing community garden trend by establishing a garden on site.
Trinity members regularly volunteer in overnight shifts at the Samaritan Ministries shelter. Mittens, hats, gloves, and scarves have been collected for men who live at the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission.
Trinity members volunteer at Crisis Control Ministry, where one of our members serves as director. Pennies For Hunger are collected for Samaritan Ministries, and Souper Bowl offering proceeds are donated to various agencies. Trinity has strong participation in the annual CROP Hunger Walk that benefits Church World Service (75%) and Crisis Control/Sunnyside Ministry (12.5 % each).
Trinity’s budget includes a line item to support international mission work. Members have traveled in past years to Mexico, volunteering to build a free medical clinic. El Buen Pastor is a local Hispanic ministry where tutors are needed for an after-school program as well as for summer program. Trinity members have also volunteered in this capacity.
